History

Established on December 29, 2018, within Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, the Maritime Vocational School (MVS) was created to train qualified personnel needed by the maritime sector. It began its educational activities by inheriting programs with a long history. The Vocational School initially accepted its first students and academic staff through the Shipbuilding Program, which was transferred from the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies to Bandırma Vocational School. The first student admissions to these programs under the Maritime Vocational School identity took place in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Following its establishment, the Vocational School rapidly grew and diversified its programs, focusing on meeting the demands of different areas of the sector. In line with this, the Underwater Technology Program was opened under the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies in the 2020-2021 academic year, and student admissions began. Subsequently, the Maritime and Port Management Program was launched within the Department of Transportation Services in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Today, the Maritime Vocational School continues its educational activities with modern infrastructure facilities within the same campus as the Bandırma Vocational School. The school is structured under three departments:

Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies Department
Transportation Services Department
Medical Services and Techniques Department
Under these departments, Shipbuilding, Underwater Technology, and Maritime and Port Management programs continue to actively train students. In addition, in line with future needs and plans, the Maritime Transportation and Management, Marine Machinery Management, Yacht Captaincy, and Maritime Health programs, which are currently inactive, are also included in the academic structure of the school.

According to official data, as of the 2023-2024 academic year, the Maritime Vocational School had 12 full-time academic staff members, and the total number of students was recorded as 443.

The college's growth trend has continued, with the number of permanent academic staff reaching 11 and externally assigned teaching staff reaching 4 in the 2024-2025 academic year. During this period, the total number of students, including the administrative staff consisting of the College Secretary and a computer operator, reached 454.

Since its establishment, MVS has successfully continued its mission of training qualified intermediate personnel in parallel with the development of the maritime sector in the region. Through its education, workshops, and laboratory facilities offered within the framework of university-industry collaboration, it makes significant contributions to the sector.
