Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Maritime Vocational School Held the First Advisory Board Meeting of 2026
Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Maritime Vocational School (MYO) successfully held its first Unit Advisory Board Meeting of 2026 on June 11, 2026, with the participation of Advisory Board Members, Academic Staff, and Student Representatives. The meeting, chaired by MYO Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Karadurmuş, included the announcement that the university had earned "Full Accreditation for 5 Years" from YÖKAK (Council of Higher Education Accreditation), placing it among the 34 distinguished institutions in Türkiye to receive this title.
During the meeting, significant improvements in education and physical infrastructure, in line with previous decisions, were presented to the board members. Many up-to-date courses, such as Digitalization in Maritime, Green Deal, and Maritime Law, were added to the curriculum to enhance student development; a new Student Life Center was opened to improve social amenities; and it was noted that scholarships were provided to 5 students under the YÖK-TOBB protocol, and that MEDEK accreditation was targeted by 2028 to certify the quality of associate degree education.
At the meeting, where sectoral issues such as finding internship placements and accommodation were also discussed, the advisory board members expressed their readiness to provide all kinds of support for the development of the college. In the closing part of the meeting, the members made visionary recommendations to add "Industry 4.0" modules to the course content and to actively use "Artificial Intelligence" technologies as a supporting element in the courses, in order to take the quality of education beyond the present time.
