Gemi İnşaa Programı Bahar Dönemi Eğitim Seminerleri

Students in the Shipbuilding Program have had the opportunity to meet with prominent figures in the maritime and shipbuilding industry throughout this semester. Our participants received direct information from experts on current industry topics, ranging from new shipbuilding to repair and maintenance, from classification rules to painting processes.

Our students had the chance to combine their academic knowledge with the real-world experiences of industry professionals. Our guest speakers and sessions included:

-Quality Control in Shipbuilding and Delivery

Özgür Uysal, Quality Manager at The Italian Sea Group Turkey, a 2019 graduate, explained how quality control works in shipbuilding and highlighted the potential for a graduate to advance on a global scale. Our students learned about quality standards in new shipbuilding processes.

-Quality Process in Repair and Maintenance Shipyards and IACS Rec. 47

Haluk Serkan Durmuş and Ercan Aslan from DESAN Shipyard presented an online seminar to our students on how quality control is conducted in repair and maintenance shipyards and how International Classification Society (IACS) standards are applied in practice.

-Inspection of Welded Fabrication in Classification and Shipyards

Lloyd's Register surveyors Hakan Gündüz and Berfe Yeşil shared with our students the inspection process of welding operations, one of the most important stages in shipbuilding. International certification and survey stages were examined in detail.

-Pipe Fitting Operations on Ships

Bayram Eroğlu from RMK Marine gave a practical explanation of pipe fitting operations. He showed what a pipe assembly does in a shipyard, how the process works from design to assembly.

-Corrosion and Surface (Scraping-Painting) Treatments on Ships

Murat Uzun, Technical Manager of Nippon Paint Turkey, discussed scraping-painting processes and corrosion prevention techniques, highlighting the finer details of building long-lasting ships.
